A modern removable denture on a strong cast metal framework distributes load evenly, leaves the palate uncovered and is comfortable to wear. The optimal solution when several teeth are missing. First consultation is free.
Book a consultationA clasp denture is a removable prosthesis built around a slim yet rigid cast metal framework (from German Bugel — arch or frame). Artificial teeth and retentive elements are attached to this framework. Unlike a full acrylic denture, a clasp denture does not cover the entire palate, making it far easier to adapt to — speech and taste sensation are unaffected.
At iDent, clasp dentures are used when implant placement has been postponed or is not possible for any reason. Masticatory load is distributed between the mucosa and the abutment teeth, making this type of prosthesis durable and non-traumatic to the soft tissues. Before fabrication the clinician assesses the abutment teeth and, where appropriate, proposes alternatives.
The clinician examines the mouth, assesses the abutment teeth and orders X-rays or CT where needed. The retention type and material are agreed with the patient.
Abutment teeth are prepared if necessary. Precise impressions of both arches are taken to fabricate an individualised prosthesis.
The dental technician casts the metal framework, models the base and attaches the artificial teeth with the patient's bite and aesthetics in mind.
The clinician checks fit, occlusion and comfort, provides guidance on adaptation and maintenance. Adjustments are made as needed.
A clasp denture typically lasts 5–7 years or more with proper care. It is easy to remove for cleaning and requires no special soaking solutions on a daily basis — routine hygiene is sufficient. If implant placement is planned for the future, a clasp denture serves as a comfortable interim solution that restores chewing and aesthetics right now.
Yes. Thanks to the slim metal framework that does not cover the palate, patients adapt to a clasp denture far more quickly than to a full acrylic denture. Speech and taste are not affected.
The denture is removed for cleaning after meals and at night. Rinse it under running water and brush it clean; once a day use a denture cleaning tablet. The abutment teeth are cared for in the usual manner.
Usually 1–2 weeks depending on the complexity of the construction and any preparatory work needed on the abutment teeth. Your clinician will give you exact timings at the consultation.
